Hannah tells us how she has recently got involved in the LGBT Sport Cymru Network
So, I am writing my first ever blog and it's to introduce myself to the LGB&T Sport Cymru Network. I will begin by telling you a bit about myself ...
I'm Hannah Bevan, aged 22 and am a recent Graduate of University of South Wales, who graduated with a BA Sports Development Degree. I have always been a keen sportswoman and a very big Hockey enthusiast ever since I can remember. I have grown up with a love for sport and it's now what I have my career in. Since graduating from university, I joined the Hockey Wales Family as Club Development Officer meaning that I now both work and play hockey and love every minute of it.
"Love what you do and you'll never have to work a day in your life" - (I love a quote)
So, how did I get involved with the LGB&T Sport Cymru Network? Well, my Hockey Club Rhondda Ladies has always been a big driver of LGBT Inclusiveness and I have always supported the amazing work that the network does and as a personal development opportunity with Hockey Wales I recently became LGBT Champion, ensuring that LGBT Inclusiveness is embedded within our team and across our clubs.
Prior to attending my first network meeting, the team were looking for volunteers to take on various roles within the network, one being Social Media and Marketing lead and I thought why would I turn down an opportunity to become part of a fantastic network that does amazing work and be able to give back to the LGBT Community, so I grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Now to become a part of the network is an absolute privilege and I am really excited to get stuck in and making a difference to the LGBT sporting community. From here, I suppose I will start to fill your news feeds with all things LGB&T Sport and support the rest of the network in making a change.
That's it from me!
