Dafabet Welsh Premier League supports the Football v Homophobia Campaign

Football v Homophobia comes to Wales

From grassroots to the Dafabet Welsh Premier League, the Football v Homophobia (FvH) campaign is looking for clubs to get involved in the February month of action. The campaign has been running across the UK and Europe since 2010 and aims to ensure that football at all levels is welcoming and safe for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

In recent years, FvH has received kind support for the campaign from several Welsh clubs, and several grassroots initiatives have been supported through the FvH small grants scheme. Now, wit the support and backing of the Football Association of Wales, FvH is aiming to connect with even more Welsh football clubs in February.

Lou Englefield, Director of the campaign explains, ' We are really excited to have the backing of the Football Association of Wales for our 2016 campaign. In what will be a huge year for Welsh football, we hope that a wide range of Welsh clubs will support FvH and get involved in our month of action'.

Gwyn Derfel, Secretary of the Dafabet Welsh Premier League at the FAW comments, ' The Football v Homophobia campaign is a fantastic way for Welsh football clubs at all levels to demonstrate their commitment to diversity and inclusion. We look forward to seeing and hearing all about how clubs are engaging with this initiative'.

Clubs can get involved now by visiting the FvH website (http://www.footballvhomophobia.com/) where they can find a number of resources and examples of how other clubs are taking action in February. Designating a home match in February, including an article in your match day programme or writing an article for your website are just a couple of ways that clubs can engage with the campaign.
