New Partnership Announced With Cardiff Devils

LGBT Sport Cymru reach out to the Cardiff Devils network as we launch a new official partnership

Today we have launched an official partnership with Cardiff Devils, whereby we share one another's vision to be committed to providing equal sporting opportunities for the LGBT Community. Cardiff Devils reached out to us following their 'Play Your Part' campaign last year, with the hope that joining forces will continue to breakdown participation barriers for the LGBT community as well as supporting one another's equality drive.

This partnership will be marked at Cardiff Devils home game on November 26th which falls during Stonewalls Rainbow Laces Week. The slogan for the campaign is ‘Make sport everyone’s game’ in support of LGBT. The players will be wearing special PRIDE jerseys on the night.

If you are looking to show your support to the campaign, you can purchase your rainbow laces HERE. Additionally, we will be providing Cardiff Devils with a Charter, that will be visible at the arena for fans to sign and show their support to LGBT inclusiveness in sport.

Chair of LBGT Sport Cymru Michelle Daltry spoke about the partnership: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Cardiff Devils and a huge thank you to the club and membership for all their support. LGBT Sport Cymru are striving for a society where sexuality or gender identity is irrelevant to a person’s engagement in sport of physical activity. To have clubs like the Cardiff Devils help to share this message provides such a huge opportunity for the LGBT community for which we are incredibly grateful.”

Devils GM Todd Kelman echoed this message: “As an organisation we are very proud to partner with LGBT Sport Cymru. Hockey is for everyone and we work hard to ensure everyone feels welcome at Ice Arena Wales on game night. Last year’s ‘You Can Play’ project was a good start but with this partnership we are laying the foundation for a long and successful partnership that promotes the key message that sport is for everyone”.

Andrew Hotham will take on the role of the official ambassador for the partnership between the Devils and LGBT Sport Cymru and work closely with the organisation to further promote this important message: “I’m delighted to take on this ambassador role" said Hotham, "LGBT Sport Cymru are doing some amazing work and it’s a cause that is very close to my heart and that I think is very important to promote.”
