Rhondda Ladies Hockey Club

Club Biography

Rhondda Ladies Hockey Club has been established since 1980. We are a community club based in Pontypridd in the South Wales valleys. Over the past 35 years we have played at a number of venues within the Rhondda Valleys and have been in the Pontypridd area for the last 20 years.

We have gone from a club that at the very start, only had one team. At present we boast three senior teams and two youth teams. We have recently introduced boys into the training sessions and overall there are over 60 players at the club.

We also have a Club Masters team which has a number of players in a variety of age groups in the Welsh Masters Squads. These players will be travelling to Australia in March 2016 for the Masters World Cup. We were the first club to win ‘Club of the Year’ at the Hockey Wales Awards in recognition of the progress that we have made as a club, the initiatives that we undertake and the example that we set for other clubs.

We are actively involved in the local POD forum and have become a focus club for Hockey Wales. We have recently gained the ‘Insport’ ribbon qualification so that we can fulfil our philosophy of providing hockey for all abilities and levels. We are a club in every sense of the word and we all work together to make it the best possible environment for participating in hockey.

We provide an equal and inclusive hockey opportunity. We welcome players of all skills and abilities to be part of the Rhondda Ladies Hockey family. We are:

- Open

- Friendly

- Family Orientated

- Community focused

We enjoy socialising as much as engaging with the sport we all feel passionate about.
